Keth Soban was a genius, that's not his ego talking though you�d be hard pressed to make it shut up on occasion, but it is fact. He worked for many years in his teens on the mountain stop observatory station of Farside where he was the co discover of the previously unknown Trinary star of the Huanni star system. All of this at the age of 10, and whilst he could not comprehend the larger words such as "Dormant core locked heavy matter solar event" he did under stand that he had found a star that needed a diet of some sort. Or at least, that was his logical reasoning at that young age. Whilst Huan was barred from joining the Federation after a incident involving a long through of dead labour caste and Captain James T Kirk, Keth was adamant about seeing both the galaxy he lived in and its many wonders. And if that meant saying good bye to his family, then that was what he had to do. Though, for a Huanni, saying good bye can take a long time--it took Keth 5 years. And on that final day when he left, he took with him the pride of his people and a hope at redemption for all there past sins. The Huanni are a people controlled by there emotion, due to a overly developed mind versus a body that is comparatively young on the evolutionary scale of things. There physical forms have altered little since the first moment they discovered fire, where as Man Kind evolved from the Neanderthals of there past. This means, whilst the Huanni brain is large it is simplistic in its biological make up. There range of emotions is the same as a humans, but have fewer degrees of power to them. Where a human would feel hate and loathing and let it boil into a uncontrollable rage over many months or even years, a Huanni skips this mental waiting time and flies into a rage almost in minutes. The same for happiness and sadness, this has lead to many off world medical companies giving up trying to sell drugs like Prozac because of the fact a emotional states lasts minutes and hours, not days and months. Keth reaches earth in one piece and went about applying to Starfleet. With a glittering record of achievements from his early years and his years in the Huanni Defence Force, Keth was soon on his way to becoming a source of inquiry and pity amidst both students and faculty alike. For whilst he was smart, almost genius level, his ability to control his emotions was some what lacking. This being seen in a report from Starfleet Academy Security when he was shot and stunned when a fellow student reported he was attacking some one. It was later found out that Keth had been baited into a ambush of sorts by members of a Student fraternity called Red Squad. Baited and trapped by the students Keth was taunted and, after a single stone was hurled at him, thrown into a rage. In this counter attack which he swears was self defence, he broke one students arm and three others were kept over night after receiving sever concussions. Keth offered to quit and try and salvage his mission to bring the true light of the Huanni to bear, but he was not allowed this cowards exit. He was kept on and helped by a Vulcan called Hurok. Hurok attempted to instil in Keth a sense of order and balance, of trying to control his emotions instead of them controlling him. Unfortunately, Hurok died before Keth graduated top of his class--he died of a heart attack brought on by sever work related stress. Keth�s first assignment is to the USS America, and he is both nervous, and inspired. That, and he hears its shiny.
